Hamilton Shanghai Sprint 2025: First Victory of the New Season

Pole to Win – The Seven-Time Champion Still Reigns
Starting from pole and leading the entire race to win the sprint—this is Lewis Hamilton, this is the true power of a seven-time world champion. At 40 years old, he's still battling the next generation of F1 talent with no excuses about tire pressure or degradation. Rising stars? Once-in-a-decade talents? They all knock on his door.

Shanghai Sprint 2021: A Masterclass in Control
The 2021 Shanghai Sprint just wrapped up. The 40-year-old Hamilton seemed to turn back the clock to 2021, going head-to-head with the new four-time champion, Max Verstappen. As the five lights went out, Hamilton got a strong start, and so did Verstappen—but the seven-time champion had the edge from pole. Before Turn 1, Hamilton made a slight move to defend. Verstappen tried to switch lines but couldn’t shake him. Hamilton perfectly claimed the inside line. As the two entered the challenging sequence of corners that often intimidates other drivers, the King of Shanghai showed his mastery. With the Ferrari handling like a dragon unleashed, he surged through and exited with a solid lead.

The Red Bull Threat Looms
But never underestimate a reigning champion. When Verstappen’s No.1 Red Bull appears in the mirrors, the lead driver must be ready for an attack at any moment. By Lap 8, Verstappen was within DRS range—under one second behind. With both DRS and slipstream, Verstappen looked poised to erase Ferrari’s lead. But Hamilton isn't just any driver. With 18 years of F1 experience and a resume full of battles against the likes of Alonso, Raikkonen, Vettel, and Rosberg, he remains an elite racer.

The Tire Game and Final Domination
Red Bull wasn’t at its best today. After several unsuccessful overtaking attempts, Verstappen’s tire degradation increased, opening the door for McLaren. By Lap 15, Australian prodigy Oscar Piastri took up the chase. But Hamilton had already reached peak form, becoming one with his Ferrari SF-25 on the newly resurfaced Shanghai International Circuit. His pace only improved: 3 seconds, 4 seconds, 5 seconds… and finally 6.9 seconds ahead by the checkered flag. In 19 sprint laps, the seven-time champion delivered a flawless performance, showcasing his arsenal: starts, attacks, defense, and tire management. Hamilton is not just consistent—he’s a complete warrior.

A Shining Start in Shanghai
On the podium, Hamilton once again thanked the Chinese fans and praised Shanghai as a beautiful city. His performance gave Ferrari a perfect start in Shanghai, and fans can only hope the team nails their race strategy for the main event. Long live the King of Shanghai!
